Substance treatment and education at New Life Academy are major components of the Teenage Alcohol and Drug Abuse Rehab program at New Life Lodge. Adolescents not only get their substance abuse counseling needs met by our caring and professional staff, they also get their academic needs met in our onsite school – the New Life Academy.
The New Life Academy is a fully accredited school located on our campus in Burns, Tennessee and includes students in grades 7-12. The New Life Academy follows the guidelines set forth by the Tennessee Department of Education and the Department of Children’s Services Guidelines for Schools.
The New Life Lodge Teenage Alcohol and Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Program Staff is comprised of masters level therapists, certified teachers, special education teachers and an individualized curriculum. Students can participate in student council, debate team, talent shows, a prom for graduating seniors and other activities.
At New Life Lodge each adolescent is assisted with finishing their education and developing long-term plans for the future. The New Life Lodge teacher receives school transcripts from the adolescent upon entering our substance abuse treatment program. After reviewing the transcripts and meeting with the adolescent, the teacher creates a clear plan for what needs to be done to catch up or graduate.Teens also work on life skills such as balancing a checkbook and computer skills in our new computer lab. Those who wish to go on to college can receive assistance with applications and campus visits. For those patients who are 18 years of age and have only a few high school credits, the teacher assists them in receiving their GED.”
