Family Programs

Healing injured family relationships is the purpose of the New Life Lodge family addiction treatment rehabilitation program. Addiction is a family illness and all members of the chemically dependent person’s family are affected. We strongly encourage families to attend our family addiction treatment program offered on Saturdays and Sundays.

Our family addiction treatment program sets out to achieve the following goals:

• Educate the family about the disease of addiction and effective ways of supporting their loved one’s recovery as well as their own
• Help family members begin to understand how they have enabled the addict and perpetuated the disease
• Give each family member the opportunity to address their issues with the recovering addict in a safe and healthy environment
• Help family members distinguish between codependency and the appropriate display of love and support
• Aid the patient in making a successful reintegration back into the home

In addition to participating in an intensive educational program, families have the option of attending counseling sessions with and without the patient present. Family addiction treatment counseling provides an opportunity to address guilt, anger and other emotional responses to problems, and opens the door to reconciliation. Families are also involved in planning for aftercare treatment, and in participating in aftercare activities with program graduates.
